The Position
Compliance Investigators perform investigations regarding violations of federal and/or State laws or regulations pertaining to a specific State program or regulatory area such as public assistance, real estate, insurance, employment discrimination or sexual harassment. The investigative process is initiated following a formal complaint or suspected violation utilizing standard investigative techniques. Incumbents are not sworn peace officers, and enforcement actions are limited to the specific program or regulatory area and involve informal resolution and/or recommendations for administrative sanctions or penalties which are imposed by a higher authority.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
As a Compliance Audit Investigator II in the Workers' Compensation Section, conduct investigations of physicians and chiropractic physicians to determine if they should remain on the treating panel, as stipulated in statute and regulation. This position may also respond to complaints, medical billing appeals, late and/or incomplete C-4 Forms, and conduct investigations/audits with various stakeholders within the workers' compensation community, primarily focused on issues concerning health care providers. Act to ensure compliance with relevant NRS, NAC, Medical Fee Schedule and other adopted guidelines. Resolve issues when possible; may issue administrative fines when appropriate. Assist with other projects as assigned. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, political science, psychology, social work, business administration or other discipline related to the assignment and one year of investigative experience as an investigator in a specified program area where standard investigative techniques were utilized to make program compliance determinations and prepare detailed reports for the purpose of justifying administrative sanctions, penalties or criminal prosecution. Work experience may be obtained in a law enforcement, investigative, regulatory or compliance setting; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Compliance Investigator I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Travel up to 25% of the time is required.
