The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Intermittent vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The IT Technician 6 position may lead lower-level IT technicians and will be an integral member of the Technical Services (Field Services and Help Desk Support) team. The duties of this position center around user computer support. Duties include working with tools to manage software and hardware centrally, as well as the installation, diagnosis, servicing, and repairing computer and peripheral hardware and software. The incumbent will also perform upgrades, modifications, and hardware/software relocations. User support is performed both in person and through remote assistance. The incumbent will also assist with virtualized hardware and software through VMware and other virtual tools throughout the agency. This position may require travel within the State of Nevada to any of DETR's sites.
The incumbent must be able to use imaging software to configure workstations; install and test new and recycled workstations; install DETR-approved application software on client computers; complete all required transfer/delivery documents; make appropriate changes, get signatures and deliver documents to assigned NSS inventory staff; respond to help desk calls and resolve problems as assigned; review Help Desk log daily and annotate with resolutions to DETR Help tickets; install, test and replace hardware as required on client computers; contact vendors for hardware or software support as required; and assist in periodic IT equipment inventories.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of experience as an IT Technician V in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
Working evenings, weekends and/or holidays is required.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
