The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
This opening is for a Social Services Program Specialist 2 within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy Medical Benefits Coverage unit, in Carson City NV.
This position is responsible for the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of the medical coverage as outlined in our State Plan, Alternative Benefit Plan, and waivers. The incumbent will be required to read, interpret, and apply federal regulations,
Nevada statutes, as well as the DHCFP Medicaid Services Manual. The incumbent will be required to work with contractors, providers, and other stakeholders to perform education and outreach on benefit coverage and procedures and is required to manage tasks in an independent manner.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
