The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2023-11, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30TH, 2024. Please refer to the link for more information: https://gov.nv.gov/Newsroom/ExecOrders/Executive-Orders/ Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for a full-time Administrative Assistant 2 position in Carson City, Reno, or Las Vegas, Nevada.
This position REQUIRES a candidate to be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledgeable of deaf culture. Incumbent is required to monitor the phone line, videophone line, mail inbox, compile and format program data and reports, and maintain tracking spreadsheets for ASL interpreter and CART requests or invoices. In addition, this position processes requests for American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters or Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART). They will coordinate and schedule interpreter training and workshops and provide administrative support for these trainings and workshops, along with developing necessary purchase orders for the program. Incumbents must also have experience in a computerized environment, with strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
    Candidates must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
