The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located at Southern Desert Correctional Center (SDCC), in Indian Springs, Nevada.
The incumbent is responsible for management of various operational systems; checks systems, monitor and/or adjust a computerized energy management system; adjusts combustion and safety controls; adjust pressure and temperature gauges; take water samples and analyze chemical properties of feed water; prevent water deposits and sludge build-up.
Preventative maintenance--lubricates motors and fans; replace drive belts; clean equipment and surrounding areas to promote safety and efficiency; consults service manuals while performing routine maintenance and repairs; install retrofit and fabricate new equipment and components to update systems or replace worn parts.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized heat plant apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
