The Position
Facility Supervisors/Managers plan, organize and direct buildings and grounds maintenance, repair, custodial work, security functions, and fleet maintenance and supervise skilled and semi-skilled staff.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located at Southern Desert Correctional Center in Indian Springs, Nevada. The incumbent is responsible for project supervision; and compliance with uniform building coces OSHA safety standards, material standards, etc. Schedules and assigns work orders for personnel/inmate maintenance workers. Responsible for the approval of materials needed for repairs, buildings and grounds; manages maintenance budget; submits stores requisitions to the Administrative Services Officer. Provides oversight to trades staff involved in operating systems such as heating and air conditioning; electrical, plumbing, sprinklers, and auxiliary equipment; tools and practices used in the building and construction trades including carpentry, masonry, roofing and landscaping. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of building and facilities maintenance or construction experience which must have included project planning, preparation of job/project cost estimates, scheduling and project management, one year of which was at a supervisory level; OR one year of experience as a Facility Supervisor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Some positions require a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) within six months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment.
