The Position
Conservation Aids assist professional staff in a variety of projects involving the conservation and preservation of the State's natural resources.
PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2023-11, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30th, 2024. You must respond to the minimum qualifications screening question to ensure that your application moves forward. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
Positions perform a variety of duties related to wildlife management, conservation, fish culture and wildlife ecology. Most positions are of a 3 or 6 month duration over the summer and early fall months, working four 10-hour days in the field and camping at remote location sites on the workdays. The Fisheries Management Division has seasonal openings in the Elko, Fallon, Reno, and Winnemucca. All positions require a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Seasonal housing during the employment period for these positions is available in Winnemucca and Elko at no cost. Applicant is responsible for securing housing at all other locations. These positions are being recruited at Conservation Aid 3, Conservation Aid 2, and Conservation Aid 1 levels. The positions could be filled at any level. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of experience assisting in resource conservation projects or wildlife management projects; OR completion of 15 college credits in wildlife management, biology, or closely related field; OR six months of experience as a Conservation Aid I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
