Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This is for a Safety Specialist for Mine Safety and Health. The incumbent will conduct safety and health inspections at mines, both above ground and underground, mills, quarries, and related facilities; investigate mine accidents; conduct/provide training to mine employees and provide technical assistance and consultation to mine operators. Incumbents may be required to use personal vehicle to conduct State business. Working shifts other than 8:00am to 5:00pm may be required, to include weekends. This position works within the Mine Safety and Training Section and will be located in Elko, NV.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Five years of technical, operational, or management experience in mines, mills, beneficiation plants, or smelters, one year of which must have been spent working
underground. |

This position may be required to work shifts other than 8:00am to 5:00pm, to include weekends. |
|
This position may be required to be on Standby/Call back. |
|
The ability to travel at least 50% of the time is required. |
|
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
