The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
This announcement will be used to fill an IT Technician 1 underfill for an IT Technician 3. This position is part of our Information Technology division as a Computer Help Desk Technician in Carson City. The incumbent provides timely resolution to users with various IT issues. These issues may include user account issues in various applications; networking, systems, various software installations, local machine hardware, and will utilize our ITSM system to track and assign work to various groups. The incumbent accomplishes this utilizing a variety of means such as, over the phone, email, chat, and occasionally in person. The user base includes all of the Nevada DMV Northern and Southern regional offices, along with other various county, state, and AAA offices. The position requires the incumbent perform software support and maintenance, and is responsible for creating, maintaining, and terminating user accounts in various systems including but not limited to, Active Directory, DMV application, Cisco Systems DUO dual authentication, and administering our CCURE security card key program. This job requires a work shift of 3:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Tuesday - Saturday.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician Trainee in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Statewide travel is required.
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
This position requires a 25% travel requirement.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
