The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.
This position is in the Traffic Operations Division as a team member of the Technology Section. Two positions located in the Traffic Operations Division one position will serve as a technical expert for the Northern Nevada Region and the other position will serve as a technical expert for the Southern Nevada Region. The position will be an assistant field team lead and perform technical and professional work as a systems administrator for the Nevada Shared Public Radio System (NSRS) and is responsible for daily operations, maintenance, coordination, and sustainment of the system. In addition to these responsibilities, this position will serve as a technical expert for the northern Nevada region. Responsibilities of this position include Project Management of the radio system as part of a team responsible for installation, construction, and maintenance of all radio communications sites across this area of the state. This position is also a Traffic Operations representative and may be called upon to support the Division for various projects and tasks from time to time and will work closely with external partners at varying levels to ensure communications capabilities are maintained, and supporting the division's efforts with Transportation System Management & Operations (TSMO) program and initiatives.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
