The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
Nevada Department of Transportation Information Technology Division is recruiting for a IT Professional 2 located in Carson City, NV. This position will serve as the supervisor of the Business Solutions and Relations Unit (BSRU) which aims to ensure IT systems provide efficiencies to the Department through automation and process improvement. NDOT IT is an Agile office, and the position will serve as a Product Owner of Product Owners overseeing the business side of project work from initiation to implementation. This position will be responsible for ensuring the BSRU is acting as the liaison to the business units and assisting them in achieving desired business outcomes whether with or without an IT application.
Effective oral and written communication skills are a must since this position will consult with project sponsors and end users in gathering business, functional, and non-functional requirements and aligning them with technical requirements, and presenting to the NDOT IT Steering Committee. In addition, the IT Professional 2 will be responsible for supervising two Business Analyst 3 positions within the BSRU.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
