The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This is an IT Technician 4 within the Governor's Office of the CIO (OCIO, formerly known as EITS), Facility Operations team. This is an entry-level opportunity for those seeking to begin a career in Information Technology, in an Enterprise environment.
This is an onsite position located in Carson City, Nevada. Primary duties for the incumbent include monitoring multiple computing technology platforms including Windows and Linux Server OS Virtual Machines, IBM mainframe (z/OS), modifying z/OS and Linux/UNIX job schedules, making basic code changes to batch jobs, printing large batches of duplex printed output, monitoring all equipment housed within the OCIO Computer Facility, and notifying the Server, Mainframe, UNIX, Network, and Mechanical sections along with other State of Nevada agencies of software and hardware failures.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
Statewide travel is required.
This position is subject to call-out or call-back.

This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
