APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $72,119.52 to  $108,221.04  PAY GRADE: 40
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Correctional Casework Specialists perform duties involving the evaluation and classification of individual inmates incarcerated within State correctional facilities; maintain a comprehensive record of each inmate regarding personal data, legal data, criminal history, institutional adjustment, program needs, program achievements, classification history and rule infractions as stipulated under NRS Chapter 209; evaluate, develop and implement plans for inmate program participation.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located at Casa Grande Transitional Housing (CGTH), in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incumbent supervises the activities of lower level Correctional Caseworkers, and support staff. Analyzes case factors, which contribute to case decisions, i.e., changes in legal status, decisions to parole authority, etc., Make determinations based on the application of rules, laws and regulations. Compares inmate status against classification criteria. Explain, interprets and advise inmates on decisions which are based on statutes, court case law, administrative regulations, etc. Review reports and forms submitted for intake, classification, housing, work assignments and activities of casework specialists. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school and six years experience in a correctional, parole and probation or comparable setting conducting casework services and investigations and preparing detailed reports for the purpose of rehabilitation, program development, and program services of clients or parolees and probationers or the institutional classification and disciplinary process of inmates; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work, public administra­tion or related field and four years of experience as described above; OR Master's degree with specialization in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work, public administration or closely related field and three years of experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Correctional Casework Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
