The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
This opening is for a Social Services Program Specialist 3 within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Managed Care and Quality Assurance unit, in Carson City NV.
This position is responsible for implementing and overseeing state directed payment and quality withhold programs. This includes collaborating with the Division's fiscal team to ensure payments are accurately paid based on the federally approved methodology and working with hospitals, providers and the state's quality vendors to collect and monitor data to meet the goals and objectives in the quality strategy as required by CMS. The position will research and interpret state and federal regulations, track data, trends and statistics, evaluate provider performance and coordinate with Managed Care Plans.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of professional social services, medical assistance programs services, or healthcare services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex documents such as federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
