Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This recruitment is for an Accounting Assistant 3. The eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies in various locations and agencies across the State of Nevada.
The Accounting Assistant 3 work in a large, complex accounting environment or supervise the entire accounts maintenance function of a small program or agency. Incumbents perform the highest level clerical accounting work interpreting and applying guidelines and extracting and evaluating account information/data to make decisions and monitor various accounts. Incumbents review and reconcile clerical accounting documents prepared by others; provide technical assistance to staff to resolve problems; assist in developing procedures to implement or improve work processes; and develop computer spreadsheets and other data collection processes for the purpose of tracking and organizing accounts related information.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial data to prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
