Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
This opening is for a Social Services Program Specialist 2 within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Pharmacy Services unit, in Carson City NV.
The incumbent will serve as a policy specialist for pharmacy services. Their primary responsibilities will include working closely with healthcare providers, Medicaid District Office, and recipients to resolve issues pertaining to real-time adjudication of pharmacy claims, addressing queries related to drug coverage, and providing guidance on the Nevada Medicaid Preferred Drug List (PDL). Additionally, this position will oversee Hearing Preparation Meetings (HPMs) and fair hearings related to drug coverage, participate in advisory and regulatory boards, and will be responsible for initiating policy changes such as State plans, policy manuals, procedures, and billing guides. The incumbent will also conduct research and analyze Federal and State laws and regulations to develop recommendations and actively
participate in new program development.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
