JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Photogrammetrist/Cartographer's perform remote sensing work in the preparation of contour maps, terrain models, profile sheets; digital animated fly-through and related mapping materials requiring the application of photogrammetric or cartographic techniques.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Location Division's Imagery Section in Carson City is hiring for a position that requires excellent photogrammetric, survey and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills. The primary responsibility of the job is to perform remote sensing work, which includes developing UAV technology, image processing, aerial survey mission planning and camera operation, digital and hard copy imagery products, orthophoto production, Digital Terrain Model (DTM) creation, and Dense Surface Model (DSM) generation. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining the imagery GIS database, developing precise 3D models from various sources such as LiDAR, close-range photogrammetry, aerial imagery, CAD, and GIS. All of these duties are performed using specialized software such as Photogrammetry software, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Graphic Arts.
This position is a underfill for a Photogrammetrist/Cartographer 2 . Incumbent may progress to the next level after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with approval of the appointing authority.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in photogrammetry, cartography, physical science, geography, civil engineering, or related field; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in photogrammetry, cartography, physical science, geography, mapping, surveying, civil engineering, or related field and one year of experience which included completing digital map files from aerial photography and survey data and operating manual and computerized photogrammetric or cartographic equipment; OR graduation from high school and two years of experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Additional Position Criteria
This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification within 90 days of hire. Can you meet this requirement?
This position requires occasional flying in a small NDOT plane across Nevada for aerial camera production assignments. Can you meet this requirement?
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
