Public Information Officers manage the public relations and information program for an agency on a statewide basis; write media releases, newsletters, and informational brochures; produce audiovisual presentations and take photographs.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Bureau of Behavioral Health Wellness and Prevention is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Public Information Officer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and executing the agency's communication efforts; ensuring the public is well-informed about our initiatives, policies, and activities. As the primary point of contact for media relations and public engagement, the Public Information Officer will work closely with agency leadership and other stakeholders to create and implement effective communication strategies. This position requires a strong commitment to transparency, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, English, public or community relations, communications or closely related field and two years of professional experience in public relations or public information including writing media releases and newsletters, preparing speeches and multimedia presentations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |

This position requires travel up to 25% of the time. |
