The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking an IT Professional III to join our Information Services team located in Carson City, Nevada. This position is responsible for development of software applications, reporting writing and testing for the agency's mission critical application Unified Nevada Information Technology for Youth (UNITY) system, a vital component of the Nevada's Statewide Electronic Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS). UNITY is essential for data collection and reporting on case management services for children and families, serving 1,600 staff statewide since its inception in 2003.
The incumbent will be an integral member of the Information Services team responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of division's mission-critical application. Working with cross-functional teams, incumbent will develop and maintain the agency's mission critical application using the application development technology stack which include .NET (ASP.NET, VB.NET), SQL, Javascript, C-Sharp, Angular JS, Cobol, DB2, IBM Cognos, MS SQL, MS Teams, Sharepoint, etc. Applicants with any or all of these technology skills are encouraged to apply.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
