The Position
Social Services Managers plan, organize, direct and manage the activities, staff and functions necessary to provide social services in an assigned region or district office and its satellites.
This opening is for a Social Services Manger III within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) District Office in Reno NV. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the northern DHCFP District Offices in Carson City, Elko, and Reno. Social Services Managers plan, organize, direct and control the operations of a district office or region; ensure social welfare programs are administered in compliance with applicable policies and procedures; participate in program planning; development and implementation; serve as a Division representative in the community; and perform related duties as required. Incumbents direct overall program operations within a District Office or region and endure Division goals are accomplished in an effective and efficient manner and programs are administered in compliance with applicable regulations and policies. This includes reviewing, interpreting, and communicating regulations, policies, and procedures; developing and revising internal office policies and procedures; assessing staffing needs, reassigning staff and providing justification to fill positions; monitoring and evaluating program activities to ensure appropriateness and quality of service, program compliance and efficient work flow; coordinating and integrating operations with other offices or program areas; implementing and monitoring corrective action plans. Incumbents participate in statewide program planning, development and implementation to ensure program's responsiveness to district/regional needs and availability of resources. This includes participation in management meetings to recommend new and revised policies and procedures; reviewing proposed policies and procedures and providing recommendations to administration; compiling and reporting statistical data; advising administration of potential problem areas; soliciting service providers.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health or social science, public administration or related field and three years of supervisory experience in the implementation of social services programs; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex federal regulations; and writing program policies, procedures, or reports; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
