Candidate will respond to work orders; establish priority of repairs; estimate job cost; obtain quotes for materials to complete projects for purchase requisition; make repairs; document.
Inspect, repair, replace, and maintain doors, jambs, fencing, gates, windows, signage, screens, ceiling, walls, drywall surfaces, stairs, handrails, guard rails, rain gutters, downspouts, various flooring, concrete, and furniture to ensure structures and furniture are in proper working order or condition; may install and maintain locksets, door closers, and associated door hardware.
Build or remodel rooms in accordance with code requirements; review blueprints; plan and lay out projects; construct forms, pour and finish concrete for slabs and floors; remove doors, windows, electrical outlets, light fixtures, heating ducts, and fans; cut out sheetrock walls; disassemble and remove wood or metal wall framing; fabricate and install floor, stair, wall and ceiling framing members; cut sheetrock and attach it to the framework; install doors, window, shelves, trim, various types of flooring, light fixtures, ceramic tile, and ceiling gridwork and tiles.
Assist contractors by providing information regarding the existing structure and systems and required work; review bids and work completed by contractors for quality and conformance with specifications and codes.
provide training, support, work directions and work review to other skilled and semi-skilled maintenance staff.
This position is located in a correctional environment, and will function as a lead worker for an inmate crew on a regular basis; document inmate performance through completion of periodic performance reports; implement work safety and security procedures to ensure efficient, secure, and safe operation of the work until and the security of assigned inmates, staff, buildings, tools, and buildings, tools, and equipment in accordance with the Department of Corrections requirements and department policy; secure work areas form unauthorized inmates.
Perform related duties as assigned. This position in located in Lovelock, Nevada, approximately 90 miles north of Reno, Nevada on Interstate 80. Candidate must be willing to work at this location.

Completion of a recognized carpentry apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level carpenter experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |
