The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions. We are seeking an experienced and results-driven IT Supervisor to lead our technical team. The ideal candidate will provide guidance and mentorship to a group of IT technicians, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, and supporting the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and networking systems. This role requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive IT projects to success. VMware Technical Specialist: We are looking for a skilled VMware Technical Specialist to join our IT team.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing, configuring, and optimizing VMware virtualization solutions within our organization. Your expertise in VMware technologies will be critical in ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance across our virtualized infrastructure. You will also play a key role in troubleshooting and resolving virtualization-related issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain cutting-edge virtualization solutions. This is a statewide recruitment with the jobs being located in Carson City or Las Vegas. Flexible and variable work schedules may be considered. Details can be discussed in the interview. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Additional Position Criteria
    A valid drivers license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    This position subject to working nights, weekends, and holidays.
