Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is currently recruiting for an Information Technology Professional II position, the location of this position will be determined by the quality of the applicants and will be in either Carson City or Las Vegas Nv. The division has a large technology footprint, and you will be part of a team of over 120 IT specialists in all fields of Technology. This is an opportunity to work within the Information Systems Unit, specifically the server team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology, an independent thinker, and team oriented. This position will act as a system administrator with a focus on network-associated technologies, some of which are Cisco switches, routers and firewalls, VMWare-NSX-t, and AVI.
This position will work with Windows and Linux servers. DWSS resources are highly virtualized utilizing VMware and experience with VMware is required. Other duties will include server backups & restores, network troubleshooting, system monitoring using Nagios and other tools, and physical hardware installation. Routine network and server hardware health checks. Ensure compliance with and validate required security hardening settings on servers and network equipment. This is a statewide recruitment with the jobs being located in Carson City or Las Vegas. Flexible and variable work schedules may be considered. Details can be discussed in the interview. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Additional Position Criteria
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A valid drivers license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    This position subject to working nights, weekends, and holidays.
