Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.
The Department of Welfare Support Services (DWSS) is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient individual to serve as a Supervisor for the Desktop and IT Support team in our field offices. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the efficient operation of IT systems and providing excellent support to field office personnel. Key Responsibilities:
As the Supervisor of Desktop and IT Support, you will be responsible for managing and leading a team of support technicians in our field offices. Your primary duties include:
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of IT support technicians, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment to ensure that they deliver exceptional support services.
Desktop Support: Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, and peripherals for field office staff. Ensure that all equipment is up to date, secure, and performing optimally.
User Support: Provide efficient and effective technical support to field office employees, addressing hardware and software issues, network connectivity problems, and assisting with software installations.
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records for all IT equipment and supplies in the field offices. Ensure that equipment is properly tracked, allocated, and disposed of as needed.
IT Security: Collaborate with the IT security team to enforce security protocols and best practices, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of field office data and systems.
Documentation: Create and update documentation related to IT procedures, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles to facilitate efficient support services.
Vendor Management: Interface with external vendors to procure IT equipment and services as necessary. Ensure vendor performance aligns with service level agreements.
Quality Assurance: Monitor service levels and user satisfaction, implement improvement strategies, and conduct regular assessments of support operations.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
