The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function. The position will be situated within the Information Systems Unit of the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS). Reporting to the DWSS leadership, the incumbent will serve as a supervisor, responsible for the oversight and mentorship of a team of IT Technicians. The primary focus of this role is to manage and maintain all IT resources in the field offices of the Division. Key Responsibilities: Supervision and Mentoring: As a Supervisor, you will lead, guide, and mentor a team of IT Technicians, ensuring their professional growth and development ; hardware and Software Management: You will have direct responsibility for the hardware and software within the field offices, overseeing maintenance and upgrades as needed to ensure seamless operations; network administration: Administer and manage PCs, operating systems, and infrastructure support software associated with local area networks (LANs), maintaining the integrity and performance of these networks; work Prioritization: Prioritize and schedule tasks associated with maintaining DWSS hardware, addressing technical issues, and providing responsive support to field office staff; standardization: Ensure that all field offices are configured in accordance with Information Systems (IS) standards, promoting consistency and efficiency across multiple locations; technical Direction: Offer technical direction to DWSS management on IT matters, providing insights, recommendations, and analysis to support informed decision-making ; systems Analysis: Conduct regular systems analysis to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency gains, and optimization of IT resources ; team Management: Oversee and manage a team of positions, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
This role is pivotal in maintaining the IT infrastructure that supports the mission of DWSS. It offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team of dedicated professionals and play a significant part in ensuring the efficient and effective use of technology in field offices. This is a statewide recruitment with the jobs being located in Carson City or Las Vegas. Flexible and variable work schedules may be considered. Details can be discussed in the interview. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position subject to working nights, weekends, and holidays.
    A valid drivers license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
