The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This position is with the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) in either Carson City or Las Vegas, Nevada. Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in information technology.
The Division is looking for students who seek to gain meaningful work experience in Information Technology with an emphasis on Application Development. The intern's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to maintenance, design, and creation of multiple applications in various systems used by DWSS. Programming languages include Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, curious and goal oriented. The candidate will be introduced to many diverse technology concepts. This position will allow the intern a chance to bring fresh, exciting innovative ways to help DWSS create and maintain various applications. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or the equivalent and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
