The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is a Staff II, Associate Engineer underfill Professional Engineer and is located within the Adjudications Section of the Division of Water Resource in Carson City. Incumbent is primarily responsible for synthesizing documents and writing Orders for assigned adjudications; developing tables of relative rights determined to be valid, performing necessary field investigations to assist in determining the validity of proofs of appropriation; and reviewing incoming proofs of appropriations filed with the Division. Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, participating in hearings on objections to Preliminary Orders of Determination; assisting the manager and Attorney General in presenting evidence in District Court at Hearings on Orders of Determination; assisting the professional engineers in drafting Orders of Determination; assisting staff and the public with resolving problems relating to all aspects of the adjudication process; conducting field investigations for decreed sources; mediating conflicts over water rights; and administering and regulating decrees.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
