Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Division of Family and Child Services (DCFS) is hiring for a Social Services Program Specialist 3 in the Reno, Carson, or Las Vegas area. This position will serve as the Statewide Coordinator and will work in collaboration with judicial and child welfare leadership, community partners, county-based coordinators, and three identified Safe Babies Court Team (SBCT) enhancement sites in Nevada through planning, implementation, training and evaluation. The Statewide Coordinator will also convene the state level leadership team, county-based court teams, and other stakeholders to promote coordination and collaboration; provide community-wide and SBCT-specific training opportunities; and conduct ongoing data collection and quality improvement activities. The coordinator will be responsible for grant and performance reporting within established timelines. The Coordinator will explore and champion prevention services statewide to reduce out-of-home care for infants and toddlers.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of professional social services, medical assistance programs services, or healthcare services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex documents such as federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Travel up to 50% of the time is required.
A valid drivers license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
