The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
This is an IT Professional 2 position with the Dept of Motor Vehicles, Information Technology Division located in Carson City. Incumbents will be required to support existing applications and be involved in creating new projects individually or in a team environment. The size and scope of projects will range from small to large and complex depending on the system requirements. Experience with .NET (.NET Framework, .NET Core, .NET 5+) in C#.
Experience with .NET/C# can be substituted with experience in anther general purpose programming language such as Java, C++, C, Ruby, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, among others. Experience in one or more relational database management systems (RDBMS) (e.g., MS SQL Server, IBM Db2, Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, MySQL) is required. Experience with Salesforce and MuleSoft is not required but will be considered.
Incumbents perform journey level application development duties and be expected to have experience in the following areas of a systems development life cycle process: requirement analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of software in various Information System platforms. Incumbents are required to define and implement a solution to a given problem that requires an individually tailored response for end-user requirements. Incumbents must have the ability to program in a general-purpose programming language, develop written requirements for proposed applications, develop and present applications training materials to users, and possess knowledge of the necessary interfaces to the computer operating system.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
