The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Museum Attendants assist visitors at museums and provide information and directions and perform routine security activities to ensure the safety of visitors and protect exhibits.
Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties outlined in the series concept. In addition, incumbents, working closely with a Curator and/or assigned supervisor, perform a variety of tasks including the composition of newsletter and/or website articles and content; assist with program and special event planning and implementation; lead school tours and set up for lectures; manage volunteer program to include recruiting and training volunteers in general museum responsibilities; schedule and
coordinate docents and volunteers; prepare paperwork for the acquisition of artifacts and catalogs; index research material; and perform other duties as requested by a Curator. Museum Attendant II's may also be assigned responsibility for the daily operation of the museum store which includes conducting sales, reconciling sales at end-of-shift, stocking shelves, taking inventory, preparing purchase requisitions, and creating displays. This is the advanced journey level in the series.
This is a position within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the Division of Museums and History at the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas. The Museum is located on the Grounds of the Las Vegas Springs Preserve. The position reports Thursday-Sunday 8AM-5PM but is subject to the changing needs of the Museum. The position is primarily responsible for customer service and related duties for support in the education department, membership, volunteers, and events as needed. The Museum Attendant II greets museum visitors; answers visitor questions; promotes Museum programs; performs light clerical and custodial duties; answers the phone; and monitors the security of guests and schoolchildren e. In addition, the Museum Attendant II provides front line support in guest interaction. The attendant will assist in all aspects of the membership sales, volunteer hours recording, and related tasks.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical experience which included working with the public; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Some positions require work on weekends and/or holidays.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
