Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position provides general office management for the Director's Office, Grants Management Unit (GMU) in Carson City, NV. This position assists with grant processes including emails, phone and overall communication to community members, state, local, Federal and tribal, partners, other divisions within Department of Health and Human Services and external partners to including non-profit agencies, community agencies, county and state agencies, and universities. This position establishes and maintains filing systems for grant programs, processes purchase orders, assists GMU staff with travel requests, assists with grant application and grant award processes, functions as administrative support for the Grants Management Advisory Committee (GMAC) by posting agendas, providing staff support, setting up meetings, and organizing additional materials. This position also serves as a lead staff member for GMU and helps with public information, revisions to department website, coordinates with department's public information officer. The ideal candidate for this position is able to take initiative and not wait for directions, identify areas requiring attention of program staff, supervisor or unit chief, identify areas where expertise can assist others, and demonstrate adaptability, cooperativeness, and appropriate judgment.

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

This position has a 25% travel requirement. |
