Manufactured Housing Inspectors are responsible for the Statewide inspection of manufactured homes, commercial coaches, mobile homes, mobile home parks and other manufactured buildings upon installation; the review of construction plans and specifications for manufactured buildings; the inspection and certification of the facilities, production and quality control processes of manufactured building manufacturers; the enforcement of code and regulatory compliance for projects involving manufactured structures; and the investigation of complaints against manufactured housing dealers, manufacturers, servicepersons and mobile home parks.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Organize and schedule requests for inspections on permitted work for manufactured homes, commercial coaches and other manufactured structures regulated by the Housing Division; compare completed work with original design plans, note code violations and corrections, affix install labels and compliance tags, complete all related paperwork, update databases as required, analyze inspection activities and compile related metrics, assist in performance of Plan Reviews for compliance with State adopted codes and HUD standards, assist public, licensees and government officials with permit and inspection related inquiries, produce documents, generate permits, collect funds and collaborate with building officials and other staff members.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Associate's degree from an accredited college, university or trade school in the building trades, fire science, or closely related field; OR two years of experience as a general construction contractor, a plans examiner or building inspector in a local government entity, or a quality assurance inspector in a manufactured housing plant; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
