Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Accounting Assistant 3 located in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Accounting Assistant 3 position is located in Las Vegas and is an integral part of the Children's Mental Health Billing Unit (CMHBU) within the Division of Child and Family Services. Main duties for this position include, but are not limited to: Pre-billing and quality assurance preparation and review to ensure proper and clean claims are billed to the various guarantors, including Medicaid; Creating and submitting claims using myAvatar (electronic health records software) as well as applicable paper claim forms; Monitor and Update claim tracking spreadsheets to include claim review, reconciliation, resubmissions and appeals, ensuring back-end billing functions are completed in order to close out youth accounts. Data entry and Microsoft excel experience is required.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial data to prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. |
