Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is with the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Environmental Health Section (EHS). Under the direct supervision of the EHS Program Manager. The position will provide administrative support to EHS Staff in five field offices. Duties will include but are not limited to: Travel requestsand reimbursments, maintaining electronic records, correspondence, data entry, process daily financial transactions, answer telephones, relay information, copy and bind printed materials, mail distribution, and document review. Equipment will include copiers, phones, binding machine, calculators, computers and printers. EHS is a public facing office with walk-in clients who require assistance with the Centralized Licensing, Inspections and Complaints System (CLICS), resetting passwords and general computer assistance. Incumbents must possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. EHS functions include permitting, management, education, enforcement, consultation, and emergency response to prevent and mitigate environmental health hazards and to promote & protect the public health and the environment.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. |
