The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Personnel Technicians perform a wide variety of personnel activities including personnel records processing, recruitment and examining, new hire orientation, list certification, and payroll support duties.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is within the Department of Administration; Division of Human Resource Management; Compensation, Classification, and Recruitment Section. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting recruitments with well-defined minimum qualifications, agency internal promotional recruitments, and direct-to-agency routine applications; respond to job applicant inquiries; inform applicants of application status; answer technical personnel related questions related to recruitments.
Front Desk Reception duties such as greeting and assisting walk-in customers with general inquiries, employment inquiries and the applicable HRIS system(s); accept and scan hardcopy applications and/or supporting documentation; answer incoming telephone calls, determine the needs of the caller, respond to questions or refer to the appropriate individuals, take messages when appropriate; type, format, produce and duplicate correspondence, reports, presentations and other documents; perform data entry assignments as required. Retrieve, open, screen, date stamp and route mail to appropriate personnel staff; prepare mailings; bring mail to mail room. Order, receive and store office supplies according to departmental procedures; maintain an accurate inventory of supplies on hand, obtaining input from staff on supplies needed; prepare and maintain property inventory records, perform yearly physical inventory, arrange for disposition of excess property. Reserve the conference rooms for meetings and various other rooms as requested. Maintain unit or program related records and files in accordance with agency policies and procedures and established retention schedules.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of technical personnel/payroll experience; OR one year of experience as a Personnel Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
