The Nevada Department of Corrections has a vacancy for a Correctional Assistant within the Central Administration Division, in Carson City, Nevada. Incumbent will be responsible for the front lobby desk at the Central Administration building. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with answering phones, sorting incoming and outgoing mail, assisting with FedEx and Ups deliveries and pickups. Incumbent will help assist with candidates for interviews for the administration division and all other customer service related requests. Incumbent will assist the Training Division with various projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
High school graduation or equivalent and one year of work experience.
As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Selected applicants must pass a psychological test prior to appointment
Incumbent must be available to work any shift or post assignment and must be willing to work overtime or short notice, as well as weekends and holidays; be recalled to work on regular days off or at other times in cases of emergency or staff shortages; and be placed on standby status if necessary.
Applicant must pass all phases of orientation training (during the probationary period or be subject to dismissal).
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
