Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is located within the Nevada Department of Transportation Construction Division. This incumbent will be responsible for reviewing contractor progress payment, supporting documentation and processing contractor payments; create and maintain a thorough desk guide detailing the Construction Administration sections daily duties for effectiveness and efficiency; maintenance of the existing documentation procedures manual, desk guides, and other related manuals; assisting the Construction Division's iPad inventory; assist with the planning, organization coordination, design, implementation and providing Mobile Inspector training for electronic documentation software, Office Engineer and General Inspection training; and schedule and perform mid- point audits and final audits of contract files for compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) to ensure Federal Funding requirements are met as part of the construction contract closeout process. The Consultant Program functions include reviewing and identifying construction program areas, recommending scope and generating agreements, technical review of deliverables and invoices for consultants. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position requires travel to remote locations throughout the State, often with overnight stays.
