The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is located within the Nevada Department of Transportation Construction Division. This incumbent will be responsible for reviewing contractor progress payment, supporting documentation and processing contractor payments; create and maintain a thorough desk guide detailing the Construction Administration sections daily duties for effectiveness and efficiency; maintenance of the existing documentation procedures manual, desk guides, and other related manuals; assisting the Construction Division's iPad inventory; assist with the planning, organization coordination, design, implementation and providing Mobile Inspector training for electronic documentation software, Office Engineer and General Inspection training; and schedule and perform mid- point audits and final audits of contract files for compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) to ensure Federal Funding requirements are met as part of the construction contract closeout process. The Consultant Program functions include reviewing and identifying construction program areas, recommending scope and generating agreements, technical review of deliverables and invoices for consultants. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    This position requires travel to remote locations throughout the State, often with overnight stays.
    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
