The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents independently resolve many users' PC issues including email and applications problems and record calls using the help desk application. Incumbents identify and decide how to resolve problems themselves or through appropriate referral; use utilities to check for network connectivity; and establish user rights. The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is recruiting for a vacancy located in the Information Services unit in Carson City, Nevada. The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to video conferencing equipment, collaboration software (Teams, WebEx, ZOOM) and computer systems. Under direct supervision and direction of the IT Professional 2, this position will provide tier two support to the agency helpdesk and its clients by addressing video conferencing, hardware repair, general users request and inventory requests through the agency ticketing system, phone, and email support, as well as desk side. The incumbent will aid and provide direction to staff regarding offered services and their application, conducting research, and advising on the best use of electronic media, read and understand schematics and user manuals pertaining to the equipment plus maintain all related software licenses.
This position also acts as an inventory technician responsible for the inventory for all Northern and Southern region offices. This includes the tracking and updating of the inventory control maps. The incumbent should have excellent customer service skills, the ability to pay extreme attention to detail and a foundation in technical problem solving, and able to assist and support internal customers with their video conference setup, scheduling, and training needs. Some travel may be required as this position supports offices throughout Northern/Southern Nevada. Incumbents must possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with provided training, and guidance from from higher level technicians and/or the Supervisor. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, two years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    This position has a 25% travel requirement.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position subject to working nights, weekends, and holidays.
