Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators.
Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties described in the series concept to include journey level duties such as extensive electrical and fuel system diagnosis and repair
work, rebuilding complete transmissions, converting surplus military vehicles to fire apparatus, and performing mechanical inspections of vehicles involved in accidents. Incumbents may provide training, work direction and review to semi-skilled equipment shop staff such as
Equipment Mechanic I's, Fleet Service Workers, students, and inmate workers. This is the journey level in the series.
Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment - light, medium and heavy duty automotive and maintenance equipment, as well as specialized mechanical equipment and machinery.
This position is at Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nevada. Duties are journey level such as extensive electrical and dual system diagnosis and repair work, rebuilding transmissions, and performing inspections of vehicles involved in accidents. Incumbents may be required to perform troubleshooting, determine the cause and extent of a component system failure, plan a course of action, order parts for repairs. This position may require supervision and instruction to staff and inmate craftsmen on proper use of tools, equipment, and other maintenance materials.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprentice-ship program; OR completion of the Equipment Mechanic-In-Training program in Nevada State service; OR one year experience as an Equipment Mechanic I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

Applicants must attach verification of successful completion of an apprenticeship program and/or
experienced gained through an apprenticeship program at the time of application. |

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. |
