Laboratory Technicians perform standardized technical laboratory procedures requiring knowledge in the life and physical sciences.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Nevada Department of Corrections is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician I (Phlebotomist). This position is located at Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, NV. Incumbent must have experience in phlebotomy, be familiar with medical laboratory tests and with methods of collecting and processing samples and specimens for medical laboratory testing. Experience working in a Correctional or institutional environment is preferred but not required. Duties will primarily include accessing Lab Corp orders in computer, blood draws, sending out to Lab Corp, ordering supplies and other duties as needed.

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of laboratory experience performing various laboratory procedures; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. |

Pursuant to NRS 652.080, this position requires a State of Nevada Laboratory Assistant/Office Laboratory License issued by the Division of Public and Behavioral Health. |
