Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health: Rural Clinics (RC) is recruiting for full time Mental Health Counselor 1 (underfill for a Mental Health Counselor 2). This position can be located and provide serves at any of you Rural Clinic sites. Rural Clinics provides an array of outpatient behavioral health services for both adults and children in 16 clinics which are located in 12 counties across Rural Nevada. Services are generally provided Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Services assist individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and recovery. Any position that requires licensure to provide clinical services must have the person actively working towards licensure and once obtained, must maintain the license without lapses and be in good standing with applicable licensing boards. This clinic has been designated as a loan repayment site through the National Health Services Corps (NHSC), a program within the Health Research and Services Administration (HRSA). Any person providing specific services may be eligible to receive student loan forgiveness. This position provides individual and group counseling, case management, and other direct clinical interventions/services for people who are mentally ill and emotionally disturbed. Services include screening and assessments using standardized techniques to determine client eligibility for services and appropriate course of treatment at the least restrictive level possible. This position also works with the consumer and others to develop and monitor the treatment plan, including participation in team meetings and coordinating services among members of treatment team consumer support systems and community entities and evaluating treatment effectiveness. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above.

This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
The incumbent, including those hired into a position as an underfill, must be actively working toward a valid professional degree or counseling license (e.g., LMFT, LPC, LCSW) and/or have a current license as a condition of employment. Once licensed, the incumbent must remain in good standing with their applicable board.
