The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This is a Seasonal position with the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds Section. It is located in Carson City. This position reports directly to the Grounds Supervisor 1. This position assists existing staff with additional grounds maintenance duties during the peak season of spring, summer, and winter. This position requires a criminal history check and fingerprinting, that are the incumbent's responsibility to pay for. This position will work with and supervise inmate workers. A valid Nevada driver's license is required at time of appointment.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Six months of experience as a general laborer that included the operation of tools and small equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Incumbents must be available for standby/call back.
Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Applicant must be able to supervise and work with inmate workers.
