The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Clinical Social Workers provide clinical services to clients/inmates in a residential, home, inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, correctional or similar setting.

Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.

Designated shift is Monday through Friday, but incumbents may share the responsibility of covering weekends and holidays. Incumbents require a working knowledge of theories and principles of individual and group psychotherapy; familiarity with symptoms, characteristics, and treatment of mental illness, substance abuse, emotional and behavioral disorders; knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, case management practices and procedures, psycho-diagnostic techniques, and laws governing abuse and neglect. Responsibilities will include assessing, developing, and implementing individualized treatment plans and goals; writing comprehensive evaluations, reports, and recommendations; conducting risk assessments, and demonstrating competency within the civil court process; actively participating on an interdisciplinary treatment team; and coordinating community services for patients while assuming the ultimate responsibility for discharge planning. Clinical Social Workers must demonstrate strong writing skills, be effective communicators, exercise the highest of ethical standards, practice effective time management, and demonstrate multi-tasking capability and flexibility. With emphasis on the recovery model, patient care is delivered through an interdisciplinary team approach with teamwork being a must.
