Clinical Social Workers provide clinical services to clients/inmates in a residential, home, inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, correctional or similar setting.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
Designated shift is Monday through Friday, but incumbents may share the responsibility of covering weekends and holidays. Incumbents require a working knowledge of theories and principles of individual and group psychotherapy; familiarity with symptoms, characteristics, and treatment of mental illness, substance abuse, emotional and behavioral disorders; knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, case management practices and procedures, psycho-diagnostic techniques, and laws governing abuse and neglect.
Responsibilities will include assessing, developing, and implementing individualized treatment plans and goals; writing comprehensive evaluations, reports, and recommendations; conducting risk assessments, and demonstrating competency within the civil court process; actively participating on an interdisciplinary treatment team; and coordinating community services for patients while assuming the ultimate responsibility for discharge planning. Clinical Social Workers must demonstrate strong writing skills, be effective communicators, exercise the highest of ethical standards, practice effective time management, and demonstrate multi-tasking capability and flexibility. With emphasis on the recovery model, patient care is delivered through an interdisciplinary team approach with teamwork being a must. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work and an internship approved by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers. |

Persons employed by a government agency on July 1, 1988 as a social worker, supervisor of social work or administrator of social work who were performing clinical social work duties, and who possess a license to practice as an associate in social work and who meet the experience requirements are eligible to compete in the selection process for this series. |
 |
Incumbents must obtain and maintain licensure or provisional licensure to engage in social work as a Clinical Social Worker or associate in social work in accordance with NRS Chapter 641B and the regulations adopted by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers. |

Must be in or eligible for an internship for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers, or must hold a license in the State of Nevada as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. |
