The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Under general direction, Wildlife Staff Specialists perform program research, planning, analysis and evaluation; draft proposed legislation, policies, procedures and regulations related to wildlife management programs and activities throughout the State.
The incumbent will plan, design, develop and maintain an agency-wide Geographic Information System (GIS), including species occurrence data, habitat data, and other associated GIS data layers using ESRI desktop tools, ArcGIS Server, Enterprise and local GeoDatabases, ArcGIS Online and Survey123.
The incumbent will be responsible for full-performance system software support, and statistical and spatial analysis. They will be expected to develop and recommend standards for GIS data development and cartography. Maintain in depth knowledge of GIS hardware and software implementation of infrastructure to maintain large GIS systems including enterprise spatial database back-ends through specification, integration and implementation of UI solutions.
Additional duties include develop, publish, monitor, maintain and document multiple web maps, features, geoprocessing tools and search services on both internal and externally hosted environments. Position will collaborate with internal staff to identify departmental GIS needs.
Incumbents should have experience with Python, JavaScript or C3 as well as in-depth knowledge of GIS APIs. Develop maps and customized geographic information systems (GIS) applications and manipulate data to serve a variety of purposes.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in wildlife management, biology or closely related field and four years of professional experience that included organizing, planning and completing wildlife management studies, writing technical reports and preparing species or land use management plans and recommendations related to wildlife management; OR one year as a Biologist III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
