JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Tax Examiners are responsible for licensing/registration, collecting taxes and fees, and assisting taxpayers to ensure compliance with the applicable tax and registration statutes.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This is a Tax Examiner 2 position for the Department of Taxation, located in the Las Vegas office. This position requires answering taxpayer questions about sales and use tax over the phone and through correspondence and registering businesses for a sales tax permit. No prior collection or accounting experience necessary. Must be able to read and interpret statutes with training. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in bookkeeping, collections, or the interpretation and application of policies, regulations and/or legal requirements equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III or Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience as stated above; OR one year of experience as a Tax Examiner I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

Application Evaluation Exam
The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
