The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
This recruitment is to fill multiple Social Services Program Specialist II vacancies within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Managed Care and Quality Assurance (MCQA) Unit, and may be used to fill vacancies in both Carson City and Las Vegas. This position assists with the responsibilities of the Quality Assurance and Improvement program and projects for Home and Community Based Services, 1915(i) State Plan, School Based Child Health Services and other Unit projects. The purpose of the position is to ensure that all federal and state quality requirements are met, that health, safety and welfare of Medicaid recipients are ensured, to ensure or improve the quality of long-term support systems, and that quality assurance activities result in collaborative, data driven system changes. The duties of this position require the application of state and/or federal laws, policies and procedures or guidelines in making compliance determinations along with extensive professional work product and preparation of detailed reports. Occasional travel is required. Heavy use of the Microsoft family of desktop software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) is necessary to fulfill the positions requirements.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
