Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health (SNAMHS) is recruiting for a Health & Human Services Professional Trainee. This recruitment maybe used to underfill a Psychiatric Caseworker 2 at West Charleston Clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada. Advancement to the next level in the series may occur after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority. Under immediate supervision, incumbents perform duties below the journey level while receiving training for advancement to an entry-level professional health/human services class.
Psychiatric Caseworkers assess and reassess the clients' level of functioning by interviewing clients, family members, and other community contacts; evaluate clients' needs and resources to determine the level of assistance needed; refer clients to appropriate services according to the service/care coordination plan; and work as a team to provide service coordination, make referrals to other service providers and community resources, and discuss mental and emotional conditions among others. This position is responsible for crises intervention, documenting client progress, and assessing client needs and resources available. Knowledge of case management practices and procedures, laws governing abuse and neglect of clients, and treatment planning and implementation are essential.
This is a full-time position that may include weekend and holiday shifts. Incumbent will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours in a week.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, early childhood development, psychology, public health, special education, nursing, or other discipline directly related to the field in which the applicant is to be trained; OR two years of journey level technical or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained. (NOTE: some jobs strictly require a bachelor's degree). |
