APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $31,403.52 to  $45,142.56  PAY GRADE: 23
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is with the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds (B&G) Section. This position is responsible for grounds maintenance at B&G properties in Carson City and Reno. Duties include grounds maintenance, this includes mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, pest control and sprinkler repair and maintenance, snow removal, 24-hour on-call duty for snow and ice removal from parking lots and walkways during the winter months to keep state employees and the public safe from snow and ice hazards. This position also provides extra services for office moves and special events for State agencies. This essential position is part of the Emergency Response Team and must respond to emergencies, such as snowfall, flooding, and after-hours call-out situations. The incumbent must have a valid driver's license, be insurable through the State, and maintain it as a continuous employment requirement for this position. A criminal history check and fingerprinting are required for this position, and the person offered employment will be required to pay for these items. Incumbent must be willing and able to work with inmate labor. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    One year of experience performing grounds maintenance work using a variety of tools, equipment and techniques; OR six months of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid Driver's License.
    Incumbent is required to work standby/call back.
    Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires working with inmates.
    Must be able to work a Flexible/Rotating Shifts, Nights/Weekends/Holidays and Standby/call back.
    A criminal history check and fingerprinting are required for this position and the person offered employment will be required to pay for these items.
