The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform advanced journey level duties. The Office of the State Treasurer is recruiting for an IT Professional III. The position will report directly to the Chief Deputy. This position is responsible, in cooperation with the IT Professional IV position, for supporting the Treasurer's Office technology infrastructure including analyzing, implementing, maintaining, and modifying computer operations, databases, and applications. In addition, this position will be the primary contact for monitoring and solving the Office Help-Desk environment with application related issues, providing technical support to end users, troubleshooting, and serves as a liaison to vendor technical personnel, as requested by the IT Professional IV position. This position will manage and document access requests to the office systems, network, applications, and communicate with state IT services when needed. Incumbents will be required to perform duties in more than one IT specialization area. This person should be a good communicator, proactive and work independently.
The ideal candidate will have experience with computer operations, such as direct help desk support and database administration, such as configuring database, tuning performance, and data integrity, including the back-up and recovery of the database, and IT project management support to the IT IV position, such as interacting as an intermediary between subject matter experts (SMEs) and vendors to resolve design conflicts, drafting optimal timelines, and overseeing data migration and administration. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    Applicants for positions in this series may have a combination of complementary education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that qualify for the class level and specialty being recruited.
    Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) - Security Expert is equivalent to two years of experience.

    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for continued employment.
    This position requires travel up to 25% of the time.
