Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health: Rural Clinics (RC) is recruiting for a full-time Mental Health Counselor I, underfill for a Mental Health Counselor II, in Ely. The incumbent may be automatically progressed upon the supervisor's approval and when minimum qualifications of the higher level have been met. This will also require licensure or certification as a Mental Health Counselor, Certified Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. Rural Clinics provides an array of outpatient behavioral health services for both adults and children in 16 clinics in 12 counties across Rural Nevada. Services are generally provided Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Services assist individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and recovery. Any position that requires licensure to provide clinical services must be maintained, without lapses and be in good standing with subsequent boards. This position provides individual and group counseling, case management, and other direct clinical interventions/services for people who are mentally ill and emotionally disturbed. Services include screening and assessments using standardized techniques to determine client eligibility for services and appropriate course of treatment at the least restrictive level possible. This position also works with the consumer and others to develop and monitor the treatment plan, including participation in team meetings and coordinating services among members of treatment team consumer support systems and community entities and evaluating treatment effectiveness. This clinic has been designated as a loan repayment site through the National Health Services Corps (NHSC), a program of the Health Research and Services Administration (HRSA).

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above. |
